Tapio's creatures

A series of wooden decorative objects, inspired by Finnish culture and traditions. Find out more below!

Three distinctive characters

Spirits and gnomes may have been more important than powerful gods and mythical heroes, because they were present in everyday life.

These figures can be seen playfully - or a little more seriously - as beings of power and help. If you go down this road, be prepared for strange things to start happening.

History of the characters

Spirits and gnomes are so old that no one knows when they appeared in our lives. They taught people to understand that everything has to be taken care of: nature, buildings, objects, people and animals.

Made in Finland

The Tapio's creatures are hidden inside a tree before they are revealed. Our maker carves them out using modern methods and finishes the figure by burning and varnishing the surface.

HOUSEHOLD SPIRIT

Household spirit is particularly fond of children and animals. It likes to be alone and to ponder the depths of its origins.

Household spirit also appreciates cleanliness and good manners. If there is something to be improved in the manners of those living in the home, the spirit will be sure to point it out.

SAUNA GNOME

The sauna gnome is known for his sense of humour, which is why it can pull harmless pranks. At the same time, however, the Sauna gnome makes sure that everyone in the sauna is comfortable.

It's important to be on good terms with the elf, because if he gets angry, trouble is sure to follow.

GOBLIN

The goblin embodies the power, enchantment and peace of the wilderness. It respects nature, the deceased and the passing of generations.

When it arrives home, even the pets can sense it. It may seem that pets know more about the gnome than we humans are capable of understanding.

Beware of underestimating!

When the Tapio's creature figure appears in your home, strange things may start to happen. Spirits and gnomes are known for their pranks.

Each character comes with instructions to help you keep in good terms with them. However, we take no responsibility for any pranks that may occur, as spirits and gnomes are headstrong, independent creatures who do as they please.
